The Dallas Cowboys coaching staff has a chance to continue its 2021 succe s – even though head coach Mike McCarthy and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn had no previous history together – because they share a relatively ego-free agenda.Said Quinn regarding his talk with McCarthy about his decision to remain with the Cowboys this offseason while spurning po sible chances to again be a head coach elsewhere: “If its easier for to me go, just say the word and Im gone.”As But Ryan Braun Jersey also key was McCarthy’s willingne s to selfle sly work alongside an accomplished a sistant who is now seen as a po sible heir to the Cowboys top job should McCarthy Milwaukee Brewers Jersey somehow falter.I was like, Hey man, lets talk about it and ,’ Quinn said of his talk with McCarthy in a USA Today visit. If its easier for to me go, just say the word and Im gone.”Then (McCarthy) kind of laughed and said, You know, if this was 10 years ago, Id say, ‘Yeah, it would help for you to go. But I dont want to say that right now. Because I think winning is better with you here.’Scroll to ContinueJones has said his positioning of Quinn as an immediate head coach candidate in Dallas was a result of the Milwaukee Brewers Hats owner “playing poker,” trying to deceive potential suitors. That seems a bit of revisionist history. But in the end, McCarthy – who has the “Mike’s my guy!” support of QB Dak Prescott – feels secure enough in his skin to not bother being threatened. And Quinn – touted as a “mastermind” by his players – feels the same.”There will be a time when Im definitely interested in being a head coach for the second time, said Quinn, who once coached the Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl, adding that Robin Yount Jersey he wasnt quite ready to take that step this year. Will the speculation continue? Sure, especially if McCarthy’s Cowboys actually lose a game. Will there be back-stabbing in the coaches wing along the way? That, is seems, is not the way McCarthy and Quinn do their busine s.
Could the Jacksonville Jaguars actually have a team willing to move into the No. 1 draft slot next month? That is a question that will have to be answered over the next five weeks as the Jaguars ponder their next move. While a trade-back in the 2022 NFL Draft has seemed unlikely from the jump due to the weakne s of the quarterback cla s, there could be one team in the top-5 who has legitimate interest in moving up to the top spot.According to The Athletic’s Dane Brugler during an Jon Niese Jersey appearance on ‘The Athletic Football Show’, there are rumors of the Detroit Lions looking into a potential scenario where they trade with the Jaguars. The Lions hold the No. 2 and No. 32 overall picks in the first round and, according to Brugler, would be interested in moving up for Michigan edge defender Aidan Hutchinson.”And there Alex Claudio Jersey is even chatter out there, you know, just talking with people around the league about the Lions, looking to what it would cost to move up to No. 1 to get Hutchinson,” Brugler said.Scroll to ContinueHutchinson is of course a local product for the Lions due to his star-studded high school and college careers being played in Michigan. The Heisman Trophy finalist has been widely expected to be the Jaguars’ top option at No. 1 overall in recent weeks due to the Jaguars making additions at offensive tackle and offensive guard but not edge rusher.”We are open for busine s,” Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said in reference to the No. 1 overall pick last week. The Jaguars spent big in free agency, signing seven first wave free agents at seven positions in wide receivers Christian Kirk and Zay Jones, tight end Evan Engram, right guard Brandon Joey Gallo Jersey Scherff, cornerback Darious Williams, linebacker Foyesade Oluokun, and defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi. But with all of their spending, the Jaguars never did sign a single pa s-rusher. The Jaguars’ pa s-rush struggled throughout most of 2021 and Baalke has made it clear that adding to the pa s-rush is a top priority. This would make Hutchinson the clear option at No. 1 overall, but could the Jaguars move down to No. 2 and still nab a pa s-rusher?You are always open for busine s,” Baalke said at the NFL Scouting Combine.”Now, whether were going to be able to move it or not we dont know , but were very comfortable taking the pick as well. You have to be prepared for anything in this league so to say Nick Solak Jersey we wont shop it is probably not 100 percent correct, but to say we will is not 100 percent correct either. Were going to see what comes and if something comes our way and makes sense to us, well make that decision at that time.
(Houston, TX) A compelling backup running back battle is occurring in New Orleans. With Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram solidified as the top two rushers, the remaining four toted the ball on Saturday night in Houston.DENNIS ALLEN ON SMITHDennis Allen said of Smith, “You can’t put the ball on the ground. That’s a huge negative when you when you do that.” The head coach had minor praise but returned to the fumbling. “I will say this. I thought he looked explosive running the football. And I thought there was a couple of really good runs that he made. But it doesn’t matter how many good things you do if you put the football on the ground, that’s an i sue.”SMITH ON HIS DEBUTWe all just want to compete, you know, do our best, of course, so, so go out there and do the best we can, whenever we get our chances, Tarik Cohen Jersey you know, it’s like, you can sit there and count the reps and make the reps count. And that’s what we all did today,” Smith said. The one glaring negative of the rusher’s night was losing the fumble and costing his team points on the board. Smith recounted the play, “I tucked my shoulder on one dude, I didn’t see the dude to the right of me. And, we talked about it in practice. It’s the ‘top down, punch out.’ And that’s exactly what he hit me with. So it’s better ball security. Got to kind of roll with the punches, rather than just see one, got to see everybody and learn from mistakes, and come back better.”THE RUNNING BACKS BATTLE & PRODUCTIONOffensive and Special Teams Snap CountsOzigbo led the offensive snaps Arlington Hambright Jersey at 29%, Washington and Jones Jr. each had 25%, and rookie Abram Smith notched 22%. Ozigbo and Smtih participated in 14% of the special teams’ plays, Jones 9%, and Washington 0% (not surprising since he’s known as a special teams ace).RushingThe Baylor rookie was active in the second half for New Orleans. Smith led the ball carriers with 7 rushes for 30 yards (4.3 avg). Jones Jr. had 7 carries for 27 yards (3.9), Ozigbo 8 carries for 26 yards (3.3 avg), and Washington 9 carries for 19 yards (2.1 avg).Scroll to ContinueReceivingWashington caught 3 pa ses (3 targets) for 18 yards, Smith 1 pa s (3 targets) for 12 yards, Jones Jr. 1 pa s (1 target), and Ozigbo 1 pa s (2 targets) for a -1 yard. Chicago Bears Sleepwear Underwear Special TeamsJones Jr. returned 3 kickoffs for 73 yards (24.3 avg), where his longest return was 31 yards. The troublesome part of the night for the running backs was when Washington fumbled once and Smith coughed up the football inside the five-yard line. The ball security i sue was a hard le son for Smith, but you notice the potential in the young player.LOOKING AHEAD FOR SMITHNext week, he should have more opportunities against Green Bay, especially during the joint practice se sions. The last stanza of his training camp audition will conclude in the preseason finale against the Chargers on Aug. 26 at home.Who will be with Kamara and Ingram marching in the football this season may Justin Fields Jersey come down to the bitter end. I recall back in a 2007 camp battle between an undrafted Pierre Thomas and fourth-round pick Antonio Pittman. Thomas was clearly more energetic and produced results in practice and preseason game action.Sean Payton alluded that if he chose the draft choice over Thomas, would the decision have had negative repercu sions in his locker room? The rest is history for the first man to score a touchdown for the New Orleans Saints in a Super Bowl. Could Smith, Ozigbo, Washington, or Jones Jr. be next?We shall see.
